CAT6 Cable Installation
1 Gigabit-ready structured cabling for offices, schools, and retail sites across the UK.
Overview
CAT6 is the workhorse of modern office networks. It delivers up to 1 Gbps on every port at 100 metres, supports PoE+ for VoIP phones and wireless access points, and gives you headroom for the next decade of growth without ripping the walls open again. Our CAT6 installations are designed for the realities of UK commercial fit-outs — terminating into Excel-style cabinets, dressed into containment that looks audit-ready, and labelled to a scheme your IT team can actually maintain.
Every installation begins with a free site survey: we walk the floor, agree the cable route, and produce a fixed-price quote within 24 hours. Most office fit-outs are completed within a single working day; out-of-hours scheduling is available at no extra cost so your team can keep working while we install. We test each link with a Fluke certifier (TIA-568-C compliance), provide PDF certification reports for every port, and warranty the workmanship for 25 years.
We work alongside your fit-out contractor or directly with you. Wall-mount and floor-mount cabinets, raised-floor data points, ceiling drop poles, and faceplate options are all standard. If you need wireless access point density mapping, voice-grade integration with an existing PBX, or coordination with a power-and-data desk vendor, we handle those workstreams too — see Comms Room Tidy and Electrical Data Cabling for related work.
Frequently asked questions
- How is CAT6 different from CAT5e?
- CAT6 supports 1 Gbps on every port up to 100 m and is built to a tighter spec than CAT5e — better twist rates, better shielding, and consistent performance at 250 MHz. For new installs we recommend CAT6 as a baseline; the cost difference vs. CAT5e is modest and the installation outlasts your hardware refresh cycle.
- Do you certify the installation?
- Yes. Every link is tested with a Fluke DSX-8000 certifier and you receive a PDF report per port with insertion loss, near-end crosstalk, return loss, and length measurements. The certification proves TIA-568-C compliance and underpins our 25-year warranty.
- Can you work out of hours?
- Yes — evenings and weekends are part of our standard offer at no premium, because most of our customers can't down a live floor during business hours. We'll coordinate access with building security and FM and clean up before handover.
- How long does a typical office install take?
- Single-floor offices of 30–60 desks are usually a one-day install. Multi-floor or whole-building rollouts are scheduled in phases so each floor goes live without disrupting the next. We agree the schedule with you up front and stick to it.
